Proud Father

May 31, 2009: Today was my son's final regular season soccer game. We won and the whole team played well. As a coach, that was all I could ask for. As a father, I got a little more.

My son was hit in the stomach with a kick in the first half. It knocked the air out of him. A kid on the other team said "get up, wimp" to him. When I reached him to help him off, he told me what had happened and that he was going to show that kid. And he did. he played the best game he has ever played, with more heart and passion than I have ever seen in him. By the end of the game, he saw how well he could play when he gave it his all. What a lesson to learn.

For that, I am truly thankful.
