Helping Others

April 23, 2010: It's great to help other people, directly or indirectly. Ideally, you can jump in and provide something needed and see how that affects another person. Many times, you can only work through other mechanisms through donations of time and money to a greater cause. That's no less impactful on people, but does not provide the same level of feedback to you.

Today, I got to participate in a small event to raise awareness for breast cancer. Will that help someone? I believe so. The energy I put into the event makes a difference. I just can't see it today.

For that, I am truly thankful.

Time with friends

April 10, 2010: Just got back from visiting my wife's best friend in Jacksonville. This is the first time since the kids are old enough to make the trip in a day (in the car). Everything went great! Their kids and ours are the same age and get along great. It's always wonderful to spend time with friends.

For that, I am truly thankful.

Thankful for Gratitude

March 31, 2010: Gratitude. Can you really be thankful for gratitude? I think you can. More accurately, you can be thankful that you have an "attitude of gratitude". Living with this kind of attitude will change your life. by doing so, you will receive even more gifts, generating even more gratitude.

For that, I am truly thankful.

Challenging Job

March 29, 2010: I met another person today that told me they visited this site occasionally for inspiration. I felt bad that I have neglected this public display of the gratitude that I really do have in my heart.

So, I will redouble my efforts and again attempt to put true gratitude to paper... or blog.

Today, I am grateful that I have a challenging job. I do enjoy it, even when I'm frustrated. Not everyone can say that.

For that, I am truly thankful.

Small ones at Christmas Time

December 24, 2009: Christmas Eve! With small children around, Christmas is the most special time of the year. When they understand that it is really about the birth of Christ and how important that is, it's even more special. I have great kids. they don't ask for much and appreciate what they have. So, Christmas isn't about getting everything they have ever wanted. A few presents is fine with them

For that, I am truly thankful.

I'm Back!

September 14th - December 18th: Well, I thought that I had finished with this blog. I was wrong. Today, someone shared with me that they go to this site to remind them to be thankful. Wasn't that the point?

So, I am back. I don't know that I will be able to update this site daily. However, I have never stopped being thankful. It has become part of me. So, I need to do my best to share my thankfulness through this medium.

To that end, here is what I am thankful for at this point... everything! Sounds weird but that is how I feel. I can;t pick out one blessing over this span of time. Work, home, family, friends... I am thankful for it all!

I hope that this site works for you. I pray that you find the time each day to notice your gifts from God and be thankful. It changes your outlook, attitude and life.

Catch Up

September 1 - September 13, 2009: I swore that I would never do this. get behind on the Blog and not catch up each day. It's not that I have lost my thankfulness. On the contrary, I try to live it. Being thankful is easy...blogging about it daily is not.

So, here is a recap of the first half of September:
- Work is settling down into a more normal routing. After this summer's dash for completing several projects, that is a very good thing.
- I caught my first cold of the season. I blame the kids starting back to school. ; ) However, I was able to work from home and it wasn't that bad.
- I worked my first "mixer" fat my kids school. I was worried about my son going to his first. He has never really been treated great by his classmates. He surprised me by dancing all night, even in a circle of people. He loves to dance and doesn't mind what people think. I could learn a lot.

For all of these things, I am truly thankful.

Attend Class

August 31, 2009: I have to leave work early to attend a class so that I can work with children. It is a safety class, of sorts. I like teaching children and coaching them, so I am going. If this is what it takes to continue, it's good that someone is teaching it.

For that, I am truly thankful.
